Send/Receive Group options
Send/Receive groups contain one or more of the
e-mail accounts you have set up in
Microsoft Outlook. You can specify different behaviors for each group, such as
the frequency with which Outlook connects to the server to send and receive
messages for it, or how messages are processed when Outlook is online or
offline.
Send/Receive groups can contain any combination of Microsoft
Exchange Server, POP3,
IMAP, and HTTP
accounts, along with accounts from any additional supported server
types.
With Send/Receive groups you can:
- Specify whether an account is included when sending/receiving
e-mail messages.
- Specify whether messages should be sent, received, or both, from an
account.
- Specify how often sent/receive commands occur.
- Specify whether attachments should be downloaded.
- Specify size limits on messages to be downloaded.
- Specify folders to include when sending/receiving.
- Specify downloading only headers for new messages.
- Specify settings for when Outlook is offline.
Note The options and rules displayed in the
Send/Receive Settings dialog box
will differ depending on the type of account you are working with.
Create, edit, or remove Send/Receive groups
- New Create a new Send/Receive group.
- Edit Allows you to make changes to the e-mail accounts included, and the folders processed within the selected Send/Receive group.
- Copy Specifies to make a copy of the selected Send/Receive group. You can then edit the copy, setting any options you want.
- Remove The selected Send/Receive group is deleted. The e-mail accounts and folders within the Send/Receive group are not deleted.
- Rename Change the name of the selected Send/Receive group.
Default settings for selected Send/Receive group
- Include this group in send/receive (F9) The accounts and folders in the selected group will be processed when F9 is pressed.
- Schedule an automatic send/receive every x minutes The selected group will be processed every x minutes.
- Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting The accounts and folders in the selected group will be processed when Outlook is quit.
Offline settings for selected Send/Receive group
- Include this group in send/receive (F9) The accounts and folders in the selected group will be processed when F9 is pressed.
- Schedule an automatic send/receive every x minutes The selected group will be processed every x minutes.
